Introduction:
GOOGLE’S PIXEL PHONES have been our favorite Android phones for several years. However, selecting the proper model can be difficult. Should you get the Pixel 7A? Or should you go for the Pixel 6A and save money? What about the insanely pricey Pixel Fold?
Don’t worry, we’ll dig out the distinctions between the top Pixel phones. and help you. Choose the ideal one for you. We also provide Pixel-exclusive recommendations to assist you in getting the best possible experience out of your new phone.
Most People’s Favourite Pixel
AT AMAZON, $499
The Pixel 7A (8/10) raises the bar for mid-range smartphones. It’s a touch more expensive than last year’s Pixel 6A, but it has practically every high-end feature you could want.
It has a similar design and construction to its predecessor, albeit Google claims the aluminum mid-frame is slightly more durable.
This variant is available in Charcoal, Sea, and Snow, but I’m particularly fond of the Google Store-exclusive coral. You will not have any performance issues. It’s powered by Google’s Tensor G2 chipset, which is also found in the Pixel 7 Pro.
It is compatible with all three major US carriers.

The Pixel 7 (8/10) is no longer a no-brainer now that the virtually identical Pixel 7A is available. Yes, the cameras on the Pixel 7 are slightly superior, as is the glass protecting the screen, and it can recharge faster (wired and wirelessly).
Consider it if it goes on sale (it has been as low as $499), but stick with the 7A otherwise.
The Best Low-Cost Pixel
The Google Pixel 6A
AT AMAZON, $349

The Pixel 6A (8/10) from last year is still a good value, especially at its new price of $349 (note: it frequently sells for $299). You get a sharp, 6.1-inch OLED screen with just enough brightness to read in direct sunshine (not as bright as the Pixel 7A).
It’s a delightfully tiny phone that seems well manufactured, unlike most gadgets on the market right now. The front is Gorilla Glass 3, so you’ll need to use a screen protector to keep it scratch-free, but there’s an aluminum frame with click keys and a deceptively sumptuous plastic composite rear. It’s also available in sage. Green phones, rejoice!
Inside is Google’s first-generation Tensor processor, which will power the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro flagships in 2021. Even today, this means you’re receiving some of the best value for your money.
Even when playing games like Apex Legends Mobile, I hardly experienced any slowdowns. This phone also includes all of the best software features that debuted with the Pixel 6 series, such as Magic Eraser in Google Photos for erasing unsightly items in the background of your photographs and Assistant Voice Typing for sending messages with just your voice.
The 4,410-mAh battery cell lasts all day, and the Pixel 6A is IP67-rated for water resistance, allowing it can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. You might be disappointed with the in-display fingerprint sensor, which, like the Pixel 7A, is adequate but not very fast. It will also receive three OS upgrades and five years of security updates (beginning with the day it was released).

. With larger image sensors, some newer budget and midrange phone cameras pull more detail, especially in low light, and the Pixel 6A’s photographs can occasionally appear grainy. I’m basically nit-picking because Pixel cameras are meant to be the best of the best.
My main complaints are that there is no wireless charging, no headphone jack, and no charging adaptor included in the box and that you are limited to 128 GB of storage with no micro SD card slot to expand it. The screen is also just 60 Hz, despite the fact that many competitors use 90- or 120-Hz panels for smoother interactions. Still, it does all you’d want without breaking the bank.
It is compatible with all three major US carriers.
Google Pixel 7 Pro
AT AMAZON, $899
Top Google Pixel Models
If you have the money, the Pixel 7 Pro (8/10) is the high-end Pixel to have, and at $899, it is less expensive than the competitors for what you receive. The huge 6.7-inch screen boasts a 120-Hz refresh rate, which makes it feel more fluid to interact with, and it grows slightly brighter on the brightest days for a no-squinting experience.
With ordinary use, the larger size also means a larger 5,000-mAh battery that lasts a whole day and a morning. There is wireless charging, IP68 water resistance, and Face Unlock.
It is compatible with all three major US carriers.
A Pixel That Folds
Google Pixel Fold
$1,799 FROM AMAZON
At $1,799, the Pixel Fold (8/10) is the most expensive Pixel ever. However, it is the only one in the series that folds in half like a book. Do you require a foldable phone? Most likely not. Should you spend this much money on a smartphone? Certainly not.
There are various trade-in options available from carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile to reduce the price, but the Pixel Fold is a first-generation folding phone that demonstrates the direction smartphones are moving.
Folding phones, in my opinion, are not a gimmick. I truly believe they are superior to typical rectangular smartphones. There are still a few stumbling blocks that keep me from recommending them to everyone.
The first consideration is cost.
This is simply too much money to pay for a phone. The next consideration is durability. The Pixel Fold is water resistant to IPX8, so it’ll be alright if you drop it in a pool, but it’s not dustproof. Dust is infamous for causing display damage on these gadgets. The Fold should be fine in most cases, but be much more cautious than you are with your current phone.
If you can get over those issues, I had a lot of fun with the Pixel Fol.
How Long Will Your Pixel Work?
From the day of its debut, all existing Pixel phones will receive three years of Android operating system updates and five years of monthly security updates. Google offers a page where you can find out what month your Pixel phone will stop receiving updates.
Security upgrades lower the danger of malware, maintain your phone bug-free, and increase its security. Android version updates bring new features, both visual and functional, that improve the overall performance of the operating system.
Pixel phones are the first to receive any form of Android update, which means that when Google announces a new version, such as Android 14, you may download it right away by going to Settings > System > System Update > Check for Update.
You can also try out beta versions of Android, but you must enrol your device first. (Make a backup of your phone first!) Pixels can also access “Feature Drops.” Google releases them every few months, and they include features from newer Pixels that have been ported to older models as well as brand-new features for the latest devices.
